HEALTH Minister James Reilly today slammed Tallaght Hospital after a damning report by watchdog agency HIQA. He claimed it was “completely unacceptable” that there was no clarity as to who was providing medical supervision for emergency department patients at the hospital. It is intended that no adult will be waiting greater than nine months for an elective procedure by September 30, 2012. Also, no hospital reached the target of 95 per cent of all attendees at emergency departments being discharged or admitted within six hours, or 100 per cent of people admitted within nine hours of registration in February ...

A WOMAN whose life was “destroyed” by an unnecessary and outdated childbirth operation was yesterday awarded €450,000 in compensation. Olivia Kearney (60) endured a “wholly unnecessary” surgical procedure after she had her first baby nearly 43 years ago. The operation left her with a lifetime of pain and serious psychological damage.
