Structure & Funding
Patient Focus was established as a company limited by guarantee in 2001 and acquired charitable status in the following year. Since then we have changed from a completely voluntary service to the professional service we provide today.
Patient Focus has been funded by the HSE since 2004. This indicates a measure of commitment by the HSE to learn from medical accidents and adverse events. Our view is this funding is an ethical imperative for them. Patient Focus believes those who cause/contribute to the damage to patients must accept responsibility for it. This means the HSE needs to be central to fixing it, learning from it and preventing it into the future.
The current annual funding is €216,000 per annum.
Patient Focus has a board of directors and 5 employees based in Damastown, Dublin 15 and travel nationally to deliver advocacy services to clients.
